How I built the “Courts Battle” for the Carousels Challenge
  • June 30, 2026

In the Carousels Challenge, participants regularly publish carousels, complete assignments and earn an internal currency, stamps. I needed to reinforce the repeat action and show each person immediately how their contribution affects the overall result.

What I built

I built a team mechanic called the “Courts Battle”. Participants are automatically distributed between two courts. Every published carousel and completed action brings stamps to the participant and their team.

The system on its own:

  • assigns new participants to the active courts at the end of the week, so the courts reshuffle weekly;
  • counts personal and team contribution;
  • updates the total score;
  • reports the battle progress four times a day;
  • after the final, gives the winners 50 stamps each and a hero badge recorded in their personal profile in the mini-app;
  • saves the results for the team and the administrator.

How the game loop works

  • A participant performs the target action.
  • The system records the action and awards stamps.
  • The court’s total score changes.
  • The participant sees their contribution and gets a reason to come back.
  • Winners receive a reward, and the loop starts again.

The action stops depending solely on the curator’s reminders. A person gets a visible result, team responsibility and a clear next step.

The results of two battles

The mechanic has run several complete weekly cycles with live participants. You can observe the results in the project admin panel, in the Chronicle section:

The system assigned participants, counted everyone’s contribution, updated the total score four times a day and issued the rewards automatically after the final.

Where such a mechanic can be applied

A similar game loop can be built for an online school, a club, a subscription or a community. The target action can be a completed lesson, submitted homework, an attended meeting, a published result or a return to the product.

The composition of the mechanic is decided after analysing the product, the team and participant behaviour. Teams, ratings and rewards are only needed when they reinforce a specific action.

Discuss gamification for your product

If you already have a working product, an audience and an action your team keeps pulling out of participants manually, I can analyse the task and propose a concept for a game mechanic.

FAQ

How are participants assigned to courts?
The system assigns new participants to the active courts at the end of each week, so the rosters reshuffle weekly. Both personal and team contribution are counted in stamps.
What do the winners of the battle get?
After the final, winners receive 50 stamps each and a hero badge recorded in their personal profile in the mini-app. Results are saved for both the team and the administrator.
How often is the battle progress visible?
The system reports the battle progress four times a day, and the court’s total score changes after every counted action — a participant immediately sees their contribution and a reason to come back.
