How to eat an elephant — and what the BuildIn website has to do with it

- burnout, books, procrastination
Have you ever wondered why we so often mark time trying to cope with a huge flow of tasks? I used to work 10–12 hours straight, trying to cover everything at once, and it only led to burnout and endless procrastination. Since September I had a task to build a website for BuildIn and Notion, but I couldn’t get to the site because of all the other tasks. Because:
“I need it fast, I need nothing at all, and ugh, whatever” 😅.
Everything changed when I read Darren Hardy’s “The Compound Effect”. Of course I knew that success lies in small but regular steps rather than chasing a quick result. But this book finally put everything on its shelves. I could really see that every small step is a drop in the ocean that over time turns into a river. Or, more precisely, into a website for BuildIn 🖥.

I work with time blocking, and in February I set aside just one hour a day for the BuildIn website. And it worked: the site is already launched, and I’m moving there from all platforms as the main landing page for BuildIn.
3 ways to eat an elephant (deal with a project) that work for me:

- Defining the end result without hard deadlines. I prefer not to heat up the situation with excessive deadlines. I’m a creative person, among other things, and deadlines are the worst thing for me. I do set timeframes, of course, but gently. That’s why, for example, I don’t enjoy knitting, drawing or photographing to order ☺️. With the website https://katyasystema.ru I didn’t set hard boundaries — I moved step by step toward finishing the project.
- Planning regular actions. Every minute of work entered in the calendar becomes a brick on the path to success. 1 hour a day, 25 days — 25 steps to the result. In short, when the time for working on the buildinotion.ru site came around, I tackled the task with pleasure — little time, a lot to get done. So it moved. How do you eat an elephant? Piece by piece, of course — step by step, methodically and confidently. Regularly and systematically.
- Just do it. Draw up a plan of action for the BuildIn site and execute it steadily. As Oscar Hartmann says in the title of his book: “Just do it, do it simply!” — without worrying about what result you’ll get today. As someone in my circle says: “Live for today!”
🔥 The next task is to migrate all the templates and products, and write articles, instructions and guides on BuildIn.
And this is where you come in 💛: I need your help — share which articles, posts, instructions and guides about BuildIn and Notion you’d like to see on the site. What interests you?
I’ll slowly collect your valuable ideas and start publishing on the site — with the same small steps.
